Aim
To eradicate and prevent drug addiction among the people of society.
Objectives

To create awareness & educate the people about the ill effects of alcoholism & substance abuse on the individual, family & the society at large.

To evolve culture-specific models for the prevention of the alcoholism and substance and the treatment and rehabilitation of addicts.

To provide community based services for the identification, motivation, counseling, de-addiction, after care and rehabilitation of addicts.

To promote collective initiatives and self help endeavors among individuals and groups vulnerable to addiction and risk.

To establish appropriate linkage between Government interventions and voluntary efforts in the field of prohibition and substance abuse prevention.

To increase community participation and public co-operation in the reduction of demand for dependence-producing substances.

Services
The clinical services consist of inpatient and outpatient consultations for substance abusers (alcohol and drug abuse). The 20 bedded inpatient centre offers a comprehensive treatment programme which includes components of motivation enhancement, relapse prevention, group therapy and family intervention and other psychological interventions including yoga therapy for relapse management. Neuropsychological assessment and vocational rehabilitation facilities are offered.

Providing aftercare and more accessible services closer to the community has been one of the major efforts of PASS with a focus on developing community responses. PASS is actively involved in running prevention programmes in rural areas and urban slums, stressing on early identification and brief intervention.
