PSH PROJECT

 

Aim
To provide a steady and friendly future to street children who have no other form of support.

Objective
To improve the quality of life of street children and prevent further generations of children from being forced to live and work on the street.

Activities

The Renovation Centre for street children programme started from 1994. Their main activities are Education, Health, Counseling, Recreation, Vocational Training and referral Services.

The partnership for Sexual Health project street children Intervention was involving from 1999 among the street children with in the age group of 8 to 19 years.

Goal
To reduce the transmission rate of STD / HIV AIDS high risk to low risk the Street Children.

The mainly Categories of the children has

C3

: Totally a bonded Streets.

C2

: Irregular contacts with parents

C1

: Regular contacts with parents and also Migration Families.
Objectives :- (Smart)
S - Specific : Street Children
M - Measurable :

To improve the health seeking behavior of PSH's for STD's. To ensure practice of higher & correct use of condoms among PSHs.

A - Achievable :

To bring about behavior change by importing knowledge on STD/HIV/AIDS, quality of STD care and safe sex practice & condom promotion on street children at the age group of 8 to 19 years. 

R - Reliable :

7000 children identified through BCC, 500 STD cases identified & treated including partner treatment.

T - Time bound : One year (1st April 2004 to 31st march 2005)
The main component of the programme are
BCC : Behavior Change Communication.
STD : Sexually Transmitted Disease.
CP : Condom Promotion.
EE : Enabling Environment.
Project Implementing Strategies
To achieve our goal, we have adopted the following Strategies.
Behavior change communication to the target group.
Advocacy programmes for the external state holders.
Sensitization programme with SHSPs (Sexual Health Services Providers)
Interaction with Govt officials and NGO's related to Target community.
To adopted the peer educators systems to strengthening the project activities.
To increase knowledge levels on STD/HIV/AIDS.
Correct and disposal methods of condom use.
Controls of HIV/AIDS and transmission rate
Myths and Misconceptions Clarification.
To ensure safe sex methods of condom use.
Partner Reduction 
Consistent use of Condom.
To improve Negotion skills on condom use.
To develop survival skills to exploitation and powerlessness by peer group and others.
To provide Counseling.
To provide health care to the high risk group.
To provide STD Prevention, treatment referral services.
